GameFly: How the Hell Is This Still Around?

So I made the mistake of looking up GameFly once—just once—and now I'm getting finger blasted with ads on YouTube, social media, and every other corner of the internet. You'd think I signed up for a damn cult the way their marketing latched onto me. But it got me thinking: how is GameFly still kicking in 2026? I genuinely thought this service died somewhere around the time Blockbuster took its last breath.

For those who don't know or forgot it existed, GameFly is basically the Netflix-of-old-school-DVD-rentals model but for video games. Mail-order game rentals. They've been around since 2004—over two decades now—which is honestly impressive for a service that feels like it belongs in a completely different era of gaming. With digital downloads, Game Pass, PS Plus, and every other subscription service fighting for your wallet, the fact that GameFly is still breathing is either a testament to their stubbornness or proof that there's still a market I'm not seeing.

Last I checked, plans run somewhere around $17 to $23 a month depending on how many games you want out at a time. Not terrible, but not exactly a steal either when you consider how long shipping takes and the fact that most subscription services give you instant access to massive libraries.

So here's my real question to anyone still out there using this thing—is it actually worth it in 2026? Are you getting value out of it, or is it just nostalgia keeping you subscribed? I'm genuinely curious because I can't figure out who their target audience is anymore.
